There have also been a number of wildlife sightings on the way. Shingleback lizards seem to be all over the southern part of South Australia. In the last day I have seen over 100 of them. The lizard in the tree was high up and moved behind the branch as I walked around the base of the tree trying to get a good shot. But that branch just wasn't going to hide him.
I turned off the road down to Point Labatt to see the sealion colony. They were lying on the sand and the rocks but the young pups were very active, chasing each other and playing. Birds of prey were not as numerous as in Queensland and NSW but there were the odd wedge-tail picking food from the roads. On the Nullabor itself there were 'beware of camels, kangaroos, wombats and dingo' signs, but I didn't see any of these. In fact I haven't seen a kangaroo or emu since leaving Victoria.
