When I was young, well younger, I saw a picture of Wave Rock in Western Australia. It has led to a desire to visit Western Australia's south-west. So finally I have been to the rock. It is a large rock formation near the township of Hyden. It has been formed by the erosion of the softer rock under the lip of the top rock, so that now it looks like a wave made out of stone. It also has streaks of colour in it. These streaks are caused by various chemicals being washed down across the face of the wave when it rains. The colours appear different at different times of the day and in different weather conditions. The wave stands 14 metres high and is 114 metres long. A low concrete wall has been built across the top of the rock to channel rainwater into the town's water supply.
There is also a Model soldier museum, a lace museum and a wildlife park at the rock, and the local town has a display of sculptures made from discarded metal junk.

I probably have more miniature soldiers then the museum, but mine are metal and hand painted. |
